This is something I’ve always wanted to talk about and I am so glad I finally have a platform to share my thoughts on the subject. Christianity means many different things for different people, however, I’ve always wondered, “Is that how it should be?”
For some, it means merely believing that God exists, for others, it means acknowledging the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives, and for others, it is remembering to pray in difficult times.
I am one of those believers who strongly believe that our walk with God should be a daily experience and conscious involvement in fellowship with him. As children of God, I don’t think God wants us to remember him only in times of need. He wants us to acknowledge his presence in our lives daily in our quite times, in our thoughts and actions. For me I believe that this is the best way to live a godly life.
Take for instance a lover, you can’t have a healthy relationship if you only call when you need help. If you never visit, make out time to hang-out and bond, if you never mention him/her to friends and family, it will almost be like the person is non-existent in your life. And we both know how these kind of relationships end…
God loves us and he wants to have a personal relationship with us. Much more than a personal relationship, God also wants us to vocalise and be bold about our relationship with him. He does not want his place in our lives to be insignificant. He wants the world to know that He is our God, and it is our responsibility (or calling) to show it through the demonstration of the character of the spirit, through soul-winning and evangelism, through sharing our testimonies, through perseverance and holiness. You see that it is hard to demonstrate or express all the traits mentioned above and not have an amazing christian life.
In other words, being about that God-life simply means living completely for the glory of God. It means consciously living a life that brings glory to God. One that is worthy of emulation (to other believers). A life that will encourage another believer to stand firm in the faith. A life that can get God to brag about you (like he did Job).
Being about that God life is being ready to defend your faith anytime you are called upon to do… or anytime opportunity presents itself. It means not standing on the sideline and watch when a fellow believer is mocked or is suffering. It means standing with the body of Christ any day and anytime, proclaiming the world of God and supporting the work of God with everything he has blessed you with.
I think I really explained the basic of being about that God-life, I will like to know what your thoughts are. let me know if I left anything out.
What does it mean, to you, to be about that god-life?
Cheers!
Winnie
